The Central Oklahoma Bonsai Society, COBS, is proud to announce an upcoming basic bonsai workshop. The workshop will be led by Chris Cox, otherwise known as “The Bonsai Guy”. Chris is a US Veteran who got into bonsai after returning from Afghanistan. He owns a small bonsai nursery named “The Bonsai Guy” in Springfield Missouri and is trying to share his knowledge and expand his reach. In addition to the workshop, Chris will have some material and/or supplies for sale later in the afternoon. (~ 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm)
The workshop will be on Saturday, July 30th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon in Room 1 at the Will Rogers Garden Center. The workshop cost will be $75 per person, and will include a small tree, pot, soil, wire and instructions. During the workshop, Chris will work with each of the participants to help them repot their trees, develop a basic shape and begin initial wiring as appropriate. There will be several COBS members who will also assist the participants as Chris moves around the room working with each participant. There will be a few tree types available for the workshop, possibly Juniper, Serissa and Ficus. We will also discuss after care of these trees, and invite you to continue to participate in the COBS monthly meetings to ask follow up questions and show us what you created and how it is progressing.
To register, send an email to terrydubois4@gmail.com including your name, phone number and email address. We will limit the workshop to 10 participants, so your name will be placed on the list in order of the timestamp of the email. If required, we will create a waitlist. In order to hold your place, a check must be received by Friday, 7/15/22. The check should be made out to COBS in the amount of $75. You can either turn in your check at the next COBS meeting on Tuesday, July 12th, or mail it to the address below. If your check is not received by the 15th, then the slot may pass on to someone on the wait list.
